SPAES partners with ØSTNES Helicopters AS on H125 Fleet Modification
SPAES GmbH & Co. KG collaborated with ØSTNES Helicopters AS on a modification project for a fleet renewal. This project involved cockpit modifications and equipment upgrades to nine new Airbus H125 helicopters. SPAES, as a Part 21J organisation, was responsible for obtaining the certification for the cockpit modifications, which were classified as a Minor Change.
The modifications made to the helicopters include the installation of a flashlight with a holder in the rear luggage compartment, extra headset jacks for Active Noise Reduction (ANR) for both the pilot and co-pilot, and a dedicated Push-to-Talk (PTT) button for easy tactical communication. Additionally, a new 28 Volt CD / 20 Ampere socket was installed for specific equipment needs.
A VHF FM radio for tactical communication, a Flightcell DZMx Satcom device with GPS, Iridium, and GSM antennas for enhanced communication, and a sensor on the baggage compartment door that provides a warning in the cockpit if the door is open was also installed. The helicopters received an upgraded transponder from Garmin GTX 335R to GTX 345R, as well as a Maximum Pilot View Kit (MPVK) to improve the pilot’s visibility, especially downward. Furthermore, the helicopters were painted with a new, customized painting scheme to reflect the branding.
“We are pleased with the successful cooperation with ØSTNES Helicopters AS on the modification of nine Airbus H125 helicopters. This project has once again demonstrated the importance of smooth coordination between all parties to ensure the highest safety standards,” said Fabian Passler, responsible Project Manager at SPAES.
