Tactical System Removal from Airbus Helicopters BK 117 C2

For restoring the original state of an Airbus Helicopter BK 117 C2 SPAES GmbH & Co. KG carried out the removal of a tactical system with a customer.

Various structural parts were manufactured and installed to close the existing cable breaks. “The existing devices and installation housings were removed and the associated wiring and connectors were removed to restore the original condition prior to installation. The alteration was carried out in the customer’s own EASA Part 145 maintenance organization.” said Joachim Schanz, CEO SPAES.

For the removal of the tactical system and restoring the airworthiness of the H/C, a Minor Change has been created in the EASA Part 21J design organization of SPAES. In doing so, the required removal instructions and compliance documents were prepared. For checking the strength requirements a strength verification was conducted.
